Fall is still in there air with plenty of challenges out there to take part in for inspiration... this little cutie is Kai from Mo Manning's Digi's. Sooooo cute. Our family loves fall especially for the leaf tossing. I'll send this card to my brother for his baby girl due in November. They live where the tree's are plentiful so I am certain they too will make great use of the leaves year to year.

It's time for a little Trick or Treating in the craft room. I am sooooooo loving this sketch Double Dutch has to play with. It was the perfect pair with my little Tilda... I don't know that she is specifically "Halloween" but the dress can be used in so many ways I thought she was perfect for my card.
Magnolia Down Under #65 is challenging us to use Flowers and Lace. On the front of my card I cut black primas into petals and used them under Tilda's feet.

I hunted my stash again... gotta get the paper out of the shelves and onto a project! I soooo love this Cosmo Cricket: Haunted and I swear I thought I'd never actually use it. Every piece is double sided fun. On the inside of the card flap I wanted to see the print so I applied 2 layers of vellum... enough to see the print but enough coverage to see writing!

My hubby and son went shopping a few nights back with a very specific list... you know how that can go... well, they came home with more than we needed and Liam got HIS own cartridge, lol. He is sooooo excited about the Wildlife Lite cart. He's been cutting animals and coloring them for days. Animals of all sizes. Who needs overlays when you can color or ink? Now that he 'gets' what ink can do he is having great fun. "Mommy, I need the Chestnut Roan for my Elk antlers over here!" Love it. Anyway, he asked me to make him a card with his new cartridge. This image of the Mommy bear and cub is totally cute. He was specific with his request. Had to be "boyish". Had to have an image only showing the mom and boy. Had to be an easel card. Wallah... here ya go kiddo!

Another great fall digi stamp from Mo's Digital Pencil. I love this little guy just laying back in the leaf pile he just worked so hard to rake! In my house it is the boy who plays after we do all the hard work but it is fun for us all the same!

The background paper is a print and rotate of the challenge at Cards and More this week. The challenge is to mimic the photo used but seriously the photo is stunning and the colors are absolutely beautiful! I printed the enlarged photo on transparent vellum, cropped and mounted the image rotated. The overlay on the strip of paper, leaf punches and behind the sentiment are also from this print.

It's been a loooooooooooonnnnnggggg time for me to make a card. Today was a good day to color and craft with my son. I hopped on a few challenges to get me going. Fall is in the air here. This squirrel digi stamp from Mo's Digital Pencil is an all time favorite for me. The current challenge at Mo's Challenge Blog is Bling, Bling, Bling... well... how to bling up a a Squirrel??? Lot's of stickles :) It turned out pretty fun. I used Debbie Mumm's Harvest & Holiday papers and Prima First Blush CS. The sentiment is computer generated using Organic Elements font.

The card was made using Stamp & Fun = Creativity #13 Sketch (last weeks challenge).

The Cuttlebug Spot - 2x2 die challenge

I bring a festive card for The Cuttlebug Spot challenge this week... check out those flowers!!! I am sooooo in love with them. This week the challenge is to use any 2x2 die or embossing folder (they do not have to be cuttlebug). I feel like I stretched this one a bit. I used the cuttlebug Halloween Sign die / embossing combo for the Happy Birthday sign... it's bigger than 2x2 but ya know... it works! Also, under those yummy 3-D flowers is a cute 2x2 Sizzix die / embossing combo. You can see the edges stick out a bit. The little floral arrangement was inspired by a post I ran across this weekend at The Simply Handmade Blog. There is a post for a flower wedding bouquet that is absolutely fabulous. I added yellow stickles to the edge of the roses, handcut the leaves - crumpled the paper and inked in 3 shades of green. My cousin's birthday is tomorrow. Weather permitting... we're having a little get together on the lake. She is a blonde haired cute little gardener... this Sarah Kay image was a perfect fit.

My mom used to sing this little poem to me when I was younger. Regina at The Cutting Cafe created this absolutely adorable sun shaped card, and of course added the poem to fit the card base or circular... along with a perfect envelope. I had to have it. I had to make one for my mom. She just got out of a short hospital stay. This is sure to bring sunshine her way.

Happy Monday! This week at The Cuttlebug Spot we're ready to celebrate the 4th of July! The firework stands are up and starting to sell, the weather is finally warm... it's time to celebrate! My little guy is ready for the fireworks, the parade, swimming at the beach and his Grandma's birthday as she was born on the 4th too!

I found my image at Clearly Vintage. Cora has several to choose from that are all fabulous. This was 'the one' for me though... singing, play, flurry of fun... it all speaks what the day is for us.

My papers are all from K&Co, cuttlebug A2 Allegro embossing folder... ribbon and lace trim is from my OMG stash my Grandma keeps filled, lol. She is too funny but I love it. Thanks for stopping by!

Summer Play Date Fun

We has an alllllllllll day play date with 3 little friends this week. This picture is too cute I have to share it. We were having a popcorn break outside. All the kids had a rocket cup with water. After several attempts to get a good picture with good participation from all of the kids, mind you they are all 5 or 6 years old, they decided they were SO done with CHEESE and did a series of goofy faces. After seeing this group shot I wonder why I tried so hard to get them to comply with my sweet, adorable, smile please moments... This is who they are right now after all! Each made a different, unique to themselves only, face and I love it. Summer fun with good buddies... it doesn't get much better then this!

The Cuttlebug Spot - Layout Challenge

This week at The Cuttlebug Spot we're challenged to make a layout. I have never made a layout before... I take loads of pictures, and print them too, but never get them to paper. I am happy this page came together fairly simply, and the results have me wanting to keep on going with more pages.

I used 2 cuttlebug folders, Herringbone and Explore, adding texture to the wallet sized prints on the right side of the page.
Paper, chipboard, sticker and rub-ons are Basic Grey - Archaic
Stamps are Scrappy Cat - Journaling Blocks and Autumn Leaves - Talking in Circles (boys)
I love the buttons. I added copper wire in the holes, then inked them with brown Staz-On ink to show the different textures on the buttons and dull out the shine a bit.

This picture is hot off the press... Liam and Mike just returned from a fishing date. Liam caught his first Small Mouth Bass from start to finish... hooked, and reeled in without help. He is so excited. After seeing the bow shoot layout he is certain I need to make one with this picture too! He says, "Mom, Is that a "HOT DOG?" (Mike told him "Hot dog, that sure is a big fish!") So... I guess it is a Hot dog! LOL And he let me know he caught it on his ugly stick... which I later learned is the actual name of the fishing pole. I guess I need to up my skills! Little cutie.

Digital Two for Tuesday - Recipe Book

It's been a busy month prepping for this little project... at least in my head... I had so many ideas it is funny and perfect all at the same time to see what I ended up with, lol. Two For Tuesday always has a fine selection of great vintage images for your use. Hop on over there and check out the other 4 recipe projects! They're all great, and we all ended up with something different. So fun. Cora selected many great images for us to use, and has posted them as well with our samples for you to use! We were not limited to the project... just had to use at least 8 of the images and tags.

My recipe book is 7x6 inches with a pocket perfect for a standard sized recipe card, or even a little bigger... I cut the pocket diagonal thinking the little clippings I find along the way can also store and be seen while I try them and make a big card for them. I chose K&Co Amy Butler (Lucky Flowers) paper throughout. No surprise I picked K&Co but this stack in particular really 'hit the spot' for me. I love the bold colors and patterns throughout. I kept the embellishments simple using only small Prima's and stitching throughout, along with the same layout per page. I love 50's styles with the use of ric-rac and stitching for borders. I used a Martha Stewart punch along the left side of each page to bring this touch to each page, along with a bit of folded paper at the bottom. The book is bound with my BIA. Cora's images were easily re-sized with perfect clarity for this project.

My last picture shows a recipe that is too simple and totally delish. It's a must try, and a must keep in your new recipe project! I found the old looking recipe card at Free Printables Online.

Delicious Scones

Preheat oven to 400 degrees.

2 cups flour
1/3 cup sugar
1 Tlbs baking powder
1 cup chopped walnuts
1 cup chocolate chips

Mix dry ingredients

Add 1 1/2 cups heavy whipping cream

Mix. Kneed all together until combined. Press into a 1-inch thick circle. Cut into 1/8's.

Bake 16-18 minutes.

Switch it up substituting the walnuts and chocolate chips! They are great with dried fruit and almonds too. They keep for 3 days. My new fav with my coffee in the morning!

Happy June 1st all! The Cuttlebug Spot is back to work after a month of rest. Our theme this week is Graduation or Dads... which do you prefer? They're both toughies for me. I opted for the graduation card for my niece, who will graduate the 8th grade this year.

I had the pleasure of greeting a sweet little man today for the first time. We had a little get together for him and his lovely mom. I have had the sewing bug lately and completed a cute little blanket for him as well as used some scraps for his card. I am still loving the Yo-Yo's for accents. So darn cute and simple to put together.

The Cuttlebug Spot - Favorite Flower Challenge

Happy Monday! This week at The Cuttlebug Spot we're crafting with our favorite flower... hmmm this was hard! I honestly don't have a favorite so I decided to try out my favorite never tried flower, lol! I am in love with fabric. I haven't done much sewing in ages but I feel it calling me... the fabric needs to be loved on like the paper... Anyhow, this little flower (aka Yo-Yo) is super cute and simple. I used a 4 inch circle, hand stitched around the edge, then pulled the stitch tight together creating the little circle flower. You could machine stitch it too of course. Add a button or brad and whallah... you have a quick, fun, fabric flower adding dimension to your card.

Okay, okay I know Easter is past but... I'm loving my Magnolia's from the 2009 collection and found a little inspiration to use several of them in this card from a Paper Crafts 3/2009 magazine. It took me longer then it should have to put together. It was a fun project from beginning to end. I had a little help from some challenge blogs to put it all together.

Just Magnolia has a great sketch (as well as a Blog Hop so be sure to check it out!!) I used their sketch for card 3 above turned to the left.
Roses On Paper Challenge #35 and Stamp Something are both asking for Layers on your projects. Some of my cards have more then others but put them all together and whew!!!

Cupcake Craft Challenge #85 is to Make Your Own Flowers. I made some paper punch flowers using waxed paper and coffee filters, 1 and 1.5 inch circle punches. These are fun and simple. Punch 6 of each circle, ink them up, layer and place brad to secure, crumple each layer from inside out until your pleased.

All of the papers are K&Co Amy Butler, cricut Storybook cartridge used for branches, iTop used for large brads on card 3.

I found this image at Clearly Vintage. This blog is fully loaded with vintage inspiration that is free for all to use and love on. I have only surfed through a few pages of posts and let me tell you it's great! I knew right away this image was perfect for this week's challenge. Stop by and have a look at the newly posted pics! So darn cute.

I snuck in a little cuttlebug using clear transperency on the upper right side of my card. It is hard to see in the photo of course but looks great in person. It adds the texture with a bit of mystery. The rhinestones are in the center of the flowers.

The paper flower is created using 3 paper punch sizes, crumpled and inked. It's one of my new fav flower techniques. This works great with waxed and parchment paper as well.

Project Tuesday - Party Favors

Project Tuesday is getting festive with Party Favors this week using a great tutorial from Splitcoaststampers. I am always uncertain of what a "Party Favor" is and have failed to find something thus far that was fun, simple and seeminly doable for me in big numbers. This is the challenge for me. While I only made two of these little babies, they are fun and fast and that is what appeals to me. They're already in the recipient hands making others smile. Love that!

I used K&Co paper, no surprise there, my Crop-A-Dile in place of the square punch noted in the tutorial, and 2 adorable Studio G Cupcake stamps.

The Cuttlebug Spot - Altered Frame

Happy Monday everyone! The Cuttlebug Spot is featuring Altered Frames for our challenge this week. I so love the blacked out images on A Childs Year Cricut cartridge... this project just sang to feature one of the many wonderful cuts. Naturally I chose one for Valentine's Day... and this paper... well I love it and I never seem to use it with all of the small prints and bold colors. I decided to make my challenge to use every sheet available in the stack following the pink and red colors. It got a little crazy, so I just kept adding more, lol. I enjoy the finished product. Each layer is attached with 3-D tape so it all pops. My photo isn't showing this well but it is lovely in person!

Happy Hearts Day! I'm pleased to have completed a post for two challenges all in one card, hee hee. So many do it these days but I have had a hard time tying ideas together... this one was an easy starter for me! Cupcake Craft Challenge #77 is asking for Red & White All Over this week. I loved what the DT shared for inspiration and knew I needed some time with these colors.

Polycraft Monday Challenge #33 is asking for Things With Wings... at first I thought I had nothing to choose from for this challenge and almost needed to buy a digi stamp or two just to play along. This may have been because I looked at the cuties being used by the DT, but this Mo Manning digi stamp (Plump Fairy) suited me quite nicely, especially in the red! She is quite lovely and looks to me like she indeed feels wonderful in her pose. You have to feel wonderful when wearing a red dress! LOL

You've Got Mail has always been a movie I enjoyed... thinking of love and something that makes me happy was my inspiration for our Altered Mailbox challenge at The Cuttlebug Spot this week! I stumbled on ideas until I found this new fabby paper. Nature and gardening... and this color pallet... it just suits me perfectly!

My mailbox is a bright red tin type from Target. I darkened it a bit using Timbur Brown Staz On ink. This brought me to the red I needed to work with the new papers I just had to have! K&Co Tim Coffee line... Blossomwood is the name and I tell you it is beautiful! I used sheets from the paper stack and di-cuts. I really love the way the two Tilda's I used work with the overall theme too. Tilda with newspaper and Sitting Fall Tilda, two adorable Magnolia Stamps. Just love 'em.

I squeezed a little bit of cuttlebug in here too... using the A2 Forest Branches folder I embossed the paper behind the standing Tilda. Sort of looks like a tree... at least it adds depth and texture behind her with the berry branches sticking out around her.

Buttons are Bo Bunny. Ribbon and Floral are misc from Michael's Craft.

Project Tuesday Wiper Card

I'm off to a great start this week crafting on a Monday! My son and I thought the challenge at Project Tuesday looked really fun so we gave it a go together. A friend of a friend has a birthday this week. She's been diagnosed with cancer so we've banded together to fill her mailbox with cheer. I couldn't think of a better way to send a smile then this fun card!

I've used a simply delightful image by Mo Manning's Digi Stamps. Love her stuff! The images are not only stellar but they print perfect at any size. Paper is American Traditional Designs. I embossed the pink cardstock with Cuttlebug's A2 Birthday Wishes, and the ribbon with A2 Border Just My Type. Flower is Daisy Doodles by Prima.

My son made his daddy a Wiper Card. He is totally into hunting right now and being 5 this is his interpretation of a BIG BUCK... Big Handsome Buck that is! Totally cute and absolutely stole his dad's heart. His image and sentiment, is of course done by hand, LOL.

Cuttlebug Spot - 3M post it note paper challenge

Well this week I am happy to contribute to the challenge, and a challenge for me it was! The DT at The Cuttlebug Spot put their thinking caps on using 3M post it note paper. This was my first card... I tried many times after for a more fun, creative approach but nothing quite came together! Maybe it is the extremely bright colors?!?! All I could think of was 80's POW signs, knee highs, records, everything but anything I could put together, LOL. So, it is an easy peasy card for me this week. Papers are embossed with Cuttlebug A2 D'Vine Swirls and A2 Border Frills. The leave cut is from Cricut Lyrical Letters. I'm pretty sure you'd enjoy getting this note in your box... you'd certainly see it! LOL I am really impressed with the other DT creations this week. Be sure to stop by for a quick peek!

Cupcake Craft Challenge – #75 Matching Set

I love this digi stamp: Tales From Polycraft: Sweet Dreams Collection: Aurelia Mooncatcher. She is just too sweet. I've wanted to use her for a while and this challenge at Cupcake Craft Challenge gave me the perfect oppertunity. I thought a bit of flocking would add a nice touch to the card... it's been a while since I used flock... they call it Fun Flock and after this project I'm not sure why. The Stamp N'Bond doesn't seem to "grab" the flock well so I ended up "drawing" the image on again with a glue pen and then flocking on the card. On the jar I tried stamping the image I wanted flocked first in red ink, then covering it with a glue pen to flock. I think the result is about the same. The jar is a bit bolder in color but not as much as I thought it would be! I enjoy the finished result of both though! Not sure if I'll be "flocking" for a while, LOL!

The Cuttlebug Spot - Black and Silver

Black and Silver is the recipe this week at The Cuttlebug Spot. I had fun with this one using my Dolly Mama stamp. I think she is a bit over the top, which is exactly what I needed for the color combination!

Papers are a mix of cardstock, aluminum foil distressed and embossed with the Candy Cane Stripe Cuttlebug folder, handmade paper with silver heat embossed dots and SEI embossed cardstock.
The button is 2 together with a bit of torn fabric between them. Black lace and silver tinsil edge the card. I added stickles and diamond glaze to the image also for a bit more pop and sparkle.

This card is totally out of my comfort zone, and a huge challenge for me... but I love it! Have a great week!

Holiday Treat Holders

Happy New Year! What a better way to greet the blogger world in January then a few Christmas treats! I made these after Christmas using a few new stamps I received as gifts... they're just too darn cute to not play with them. I love Magnolia's. They make all things happy!

The red ribbon covers 2 jars stacked. I embossed the ribbon with my cuttlebug. I was so excited to see how it embossed! The ribbon is a wide acrylic base, velvet type upper... I have no idea what it is but it looks great now! LOL

I am looking forward to more creative time in the new year! I am so inspired seeing all the pretties posted out there. Thank you all for sharing your talent and peeping in on mine too!

The Cuttlebug Spot - Happy Thanksgiving

This week at The Cuttlebug Spot we're creating for Thanksgiving, featuring a Turkey. I have to say, this is my favorite card possibly ever, hence the multiple photos :)... I have been in a creative slump for a while and I feel like going crazy with projects since this creation. I'm in the middle of a move so this really stinks but my sketch pad is out and I've been coloring images like mad... Crossing fingers I get to use them soon! This Easel card is so simple but makes the card so special. When we spend time crafting a masterpiece, and share it, this really is the best example I've seen to share and enjoy the artwork for the recipient. Just love it. I made mine 6x6. I found several tutorials on YouTube and many featured on blogs for example. My image is a fun free little vintage gal riding her tom's found at The Vintage Workshop. I coated it 3 times with UTEE, then gently cracked after cooling and added ink for added distressing. My paper and Family stamped image is Prima, Cuttlebug: Victoria, Martha Stewart leaf punch, all other is misc from my stash. Thanks for stopping by today. I had fun with K&Co stickers from last year, and some fun new paper this year. The background has little bats flying on it... I know they're hard to see but I love them!

With thoughts of Halloween in our minds, The Cuttlebug Spot's challenge this week is to make a treat bag or wrapper. I found this little cutie on Splitcoast Stampers. I wanted something that would lend more flare from the contents bright colors then the decoration itself, as the goodies really are what we're all after anyways, right!?!? Cuttlebug's die/emboss set bats and spider went perfect with my EK Success Bat border punch. Simple, fun, super cute!

Happy Labor Day :) This week at The Cuttlebug Spot we've had some fun making projects with a bird. I've used a cute digi stamp from Lily Boo's Boutique. While I was coloring it I wasn't quite sure how I would finish it up which is where the front of the card came from... just the image cut out. It opens backwards, left to right, which is sort of silly but also adds to the fun in the card. I printed a 2nd copy of the stamp, colored the foliage of the tree only, and embossed with the A2 Tiny Bubbles folder. You'll find A LOT of inspiration with the DT projects so be sure to stop by. This week at The Cuttlebug Spot our challenge is to use the word HOT in some way on our project. This is a really great challenge for DT inspiration as we all had a blank canvas to start and we all created such different things. Love it!

Cuttlebug Spot Challenge 43 - Sketch a week late

Last week at The Cuttlebug Spot, Aymee made a great sketch for everyone to play with. I am late putting it to paper but it is so much fun I had to make something for it... one thing I forgot was to emboss something! The one key ingredient... I got crazy with the adhesive and before I knew it I was done, I was happy with my project, and then I realized I didn't add any cuttlebug! Ah well... it's a cutie anyway. Thanks Aymee for the inspiration!

Somethin' else I had fun creating with is The Social Butterfly digi stamp set from The Cutting Cafe! I won this set as well as the Butterfly Backgrounds from Shelly's fabby blog candy a few weeks ago. I've been enjoying playing with them a ton. I just love this set and it came at the perfect time to use on Aymee's sketch! Thank you Shelly!

The Cuttlebug Spot is creating invitations this week~ Invite to what?!?!?! Well anything think you like. We've got a great assortment of ideas for you this week from baby showers, birthdays, Halloween parties to apple pickin! I adore this little house mouse image. We've got transparent apples nearly ready to pick which prompted my card this week. My MIL loves them. I thought an invite to harvest with us would be a great way to get the fun started! Happy Monday~ Today at The Cuttlebug Spot we're using our favorite new folder. Provo Craft was kind enough to send us some new folders to play with. I am very happy to show you Moroccan Screen today for my little Thinking of You card! I love this folder. I think it could easily be used for any type of card, both feminine or masculine. My stamp image is Tilda Picking Lilacs on K&Co: Amy Butler~Lucky Flowers paper (I adore her fabric... I am in real trouble now that she's makin' paper too!). I sanded the paper lightly to show the white core on Thinking of You.

Catching Up and The Cuttlebug Spot cards

I've been pretty hit and miss with the last 2 months of projects at The Cuttlebug Spot with our move. I thought I'd blog a quick re-cap for those that don't know where I've disappeared to and post a few cards that I made in the process after they were due of course!

We've lived in Portland, Oregon for the past 7 years. The end of May I had a potential oppertunity open up in our home town Sandpoint, Idaho. I was a little leary as it is a small town but we've wanted to move back for quite some time now. Anyhow... my hubby and I talked it over and decided if we could find a good lead at least for him we should have faith and move forward. He made one phone call and got the position he was inquiring about working from home in Sandpoint! Seriously it was nearly too much to take but we knew it must be "to be" and hit the ground running.

June 1st was our date when everything came together. We gave notices at our current jobs, child care, etc and started packing. My last day of work was June 12th. I flew out that night for my first business trip for 4 days, returned home to pack and load the truck only 3 days later. We did it though! We didn't have housing arranged but knew it would fall in to place. I started my new job June 22nd, we moved into our house the following week and haven't stopped since.

Back to scrappin! My room is still mostly boxes but I have kept out or found my core goodies to play with. Finding my cuttlebug plates was the biggest job. I had help packing the final boxes in my craft room for the move. My step dad, bless his heart, obviously didn't know what these babies were for as they were packed in 4 different boxes. It is all together now though. I have also found my camera :) and I have internet too :) (I know... that is big girl stuff, LOL) It feels like we might just be 'moved' now, mostly anyways.

I certainly haven't kept up with all the past challenges but I have 4 to post here. I look forward to getting back in the groove and creating / sharing with you all again regularly!

A Great Weekend on the Lake

Today we spent the day in Hope, Idaho on Lake Pend O'rielle on a house boat with my aunt and her man Bob. My Liam is in LOVE with Bob! Nobody really matters when he is around and when he is not around all we hear is "where is Bob?" It's super cute. We had a great day. I made a few cards while the boys swam and we all chatted. Thought I'd share a card and some pics of our day...

This is my favorite... Safety first!!!! Swim trunks last :) When we said it was time to swim Liam stripped down and made sure his life vest was "securely fastened", LOL. Too cute.

Happy Memorial Day~ This week at The Cuttlebug Spot our theme is to craft using Brown with either Blue or Orange. I found this adorable Owl ribbon in the perfect colors and knew it was a must have. Printed ribbon is a little tricky for me. You can't really tie a bow, twist, etc. I wanted to only see whole Owls also so the turn under not only made it work but added a fun texture to the card.
I used the Spots and Dots folder to emboss the "UR" letters, cut from cricuts Lyrical Letters. All papers and Vellum phrase is Colorbok~ Friendly Forest.

Look Through Our Window is the theme this week at The Cuttlebug Spot.... create any card or project using a frame or window. My little Tilda is framed with branches showing signs of spring, taking shelter from the showers that brings it all to life. I really wanted her to be the focus of the card, yet be alive within it. This time of year I want to be out in the storm, clearing way for the new growth be it rain or shine. So rather then look into the window to see it all happening, to me this card is looking out the window being a part of the work to be done.

Happy Monday~ This week at JCBC I stretched the sketch just a bit to use this great sunflower cut with my Tilda. I adore this little lady and cannot wait for the real flowers to be in bloom! I needed some cheer in my head and craftroom... sunflowers is all I could think of! Greeting Card Holder

This little book was created a while back but never posted... I really am so proud of how it turned out from the idea phase to completion... I have a store bought one and knew I could make something similar with a special handmade touch for a special friend. I used my cricut for the scalloped backround for each month, Tilda's frame on the cover and the little flower to cover a boo-boo on June :). I should have added more of these throughout the book as it looks really lovely. The calendar months were made using MS Word. I forget what I searched for now but found the clip art, altered the color a bit and added the month and days with lines over the top. Each page is the same just with the month name change, and each opposite page has the image backround flipped so they sort of match. The front and back cover are chipboard covered in matching paper to give it a bit more strength, then all binded with my BIA... this tool is fabulous. This project was my first BIA use. I just love it. I kept the decor pretty simple as I tried to think about longevity and several uses versus frills. This one puts my store bought one to shame... need to make another one now! LOL

It's Tea Time at The Cuttlebug Spot this week~ Tea Bag Folding that is! There are numerous tutorials out there from written instuctions to video. I found youtube to be my friend on this one! This simple little card was one of several 'trail' runs... I don't seem to have the paper quite right yet so the pattern matches, but this one was the best so here you go! I am really impressed with the other DT works... I am always inspired by their creativity. Please stop by and give it a try yourself if you like! This week I was happy to use my first Sarah Kay stamp... talk about super cute! You can find one HERE. I mixed this little lady with some DCVW Garden Party paper, a few skittles and stickers... I hardly ever use stickers but nothing else was quite right. I wanted to load this card with flowers, swirls, and whatever else I could find to match. My husband said... NO... keep it simple, keep it clean. "I would buy this card as is. No flowers!" LOL So this week I took it simple cutting the paper to embelish it a bit. He really had me laughing! Welcome to a new week full of beautiful SPRING days... at least that is what we're enjoying! I'm a little late posting this week... really a little late with everything but when it's nice out I just have to enjoy it! They're calling for rain the rest of the week so we knew we had to enjoy the sun while it lasted!

This week at The Cuttlebug Spot we celebrated CAKES or CUPCAKES!!! Yeap... we all know tons of people and they all have birthdays so this challenge is superb for just about everyone... especially with all of the fun cupcake ideas buzzing the craft world right about now! That is the path I thought I'd take but then I found this great paper piece idea and pattern at Scrapbooksetc.com. Normally I don't really pay much attention to these emails but something caught my eye last week so I started browsing. They had some really fun ideas and this cake was looking mighty tasty to me. I had to try it out. I was feeling pretty good about my card until I saw all the other DT cards this week! I still like it but WHOA the ladies have really outdone themselves this week. Get ready to play with new shapes is our theme this week at The Cuttlebug Spot! Make a card in any shape but square or rectangle. I am really impressed with everyones projects this week. If you don't feel up to the challenge you should definately stop by and see the other ladies incredible cards! My little card is a simple one but it took me forever to dream up and actully create! This cute little Tilda from the Easter collection needed to be used in some way. I cut the card base from Cricut's Wild Cards as well as the tree. The leaves are embossed with the Cuttlebug Snow Dots folder (I cut the leaves off the tree so I could place them only where the dots were), and the tree trunk with Bird Call although my photo doesn't really show this. I love the backround paper and of course after adhering it realized it looked like my Tilda was floating in the sky :). She still sort of does even with a bed of leaves tucked under her... perhaps I should add more!

Happy Easter~ This little Tilda was a gift this spring. I think she is so adorable I had to find a quick project to show her off! This gift bag is super simple but just what I needed for a bag full of goodies. The paper (DCVW Spring) is so bright and full of life on it's own it really doesn't need anything else! I added Easter egg border along the bottom, sentiment on top left and a bow. That is my kind of bag! Quick, simple and oh so cute all the same. Hope you all had a lovely weekend!

My husband is going out of town this weekend for a business trip but will also get to greet some of our dear friends. I made this for my sweet friend Hollie. Easter is in full bloom on many of our blog's this week. Our Creative Corner is no exception! I stumbled upon this great blog and thought I'd give the challenge a go. I have created a super fun bright and cheery Easter card using a Penny Black stamped image I received in a swap. It is super cute, I just feel happy looking at it! The design on the egg prompted the spots and dots theme. Paper is DCVW Spring glitter stack. This pad is full of fun, vibrant color and textures. I used my cuttlebug for the sky, cricut to cut the scallop frame and grass the little chick is standing in. I think he is hoping to find more treasures as great as what he is holding! Easter bags or baskets are filling The Cuttlebug Spot this week! Easter fun is such a sweet way to jump into Spring. The weather is getting nice, flowers are blooming, sweet smells fill the air, color is popping around you and there is TONS of candy in the stores!!! LOL My son is thrilled for Easter this year. Our challenge gave me the oppertunity to create a special little basket for him. We found these adorable Lyndt Bug & Bees chocolates a while ago. I didn't know what I'd do with them to make them a little more special then others until today! The beetle paper is from the Spring DCVW stack cut into strips, woven into envelopes cut from Cricut's Wild Cards. I was searching for a little basket 'help' today and came across a SU tutorial at Beauty Lies Within for this great woven basket using the Big Shot Envelope plate. I don't have Big Shot nor the plate so I had to put my thinking cap on and improvise! The envelope (Carraige) on page 76 worked perfect!

How to make the basket~
-Cut 8 envelopes at 3 inches for a square basket. You can add 2 more to mimic the SU basket with 6 sides.
-Using 4 envelopes to make basket: Cut top of envelope scalloped edge flap off.
-Score sides and fold in.
-Cut from top and bottom folds at: 1/2″, 7/8″, 1-3/8″, 1-7/8″, 2-3/8″, and 2-3/4″.
-This will give you 7 'sections' separated by your cut lines. Cut out section 2, 4 and 6. You will have 4 left (2 at either end and 2 in the center).
-Cut your designer paper in 1/2" by 3" strips. I used 4 strips per side.
-Weave between envelope sections, using adhesive to keep in place. I used photo squares. They were easy to apply and nearly the same size as each strip. Some strips will a little smaller because of my paper choice so I just folded or cut them as needed.
-Add adhesive to each side flap and stick them together to form your box shape. Add adhesive to bottom and fold up. The box frame is done.

To add the scallop edges and cover the top of your box edge:
-Score remaining 4 envelopes so the top flap will fold over.
-Cut the envelopes flap edges off.
-Fold envelope scallop flap over and measure from fold line 2 3/4", cut.
-Add adhesive to each. Adhere inside of the basket, covering weave, fold flap over and stick on outside weave.

This made the basket a lot more sturdy inside and out as well as adding the cut scallop edge.
I placed the finished handle with adhesive and a brad on both sides.

Whew! I sure love the way it turned out and it feels really strong. Liam will love it!

This is my first challenge with A Spoon Full of Sugar... I have been inspired by their design team cards for a while now and have to say absolutly love Lim's sketch this week. I knew I had to play with it! I used Cricut for the scallop circle and flouish under the prima flowers. The stamp image is a great rectangle full bodied fairy. She worked nicely here cut to fit the space and shape needed. I made this card for a little lady turning 5 in a few weeks. Hope she likes it!

The Cuttlebug Spot offers a great challenge this week... Double Embossing. I think I made 5 or 6 trials before thinking I'd found a good match of folders for my card this week. You take 2 folders you'd like to pair up, emboss once with the first, then using the same paper emboss it with the 2nd folder. Your first will flatten out a bit but still leave a bit of extra texture. The results of our design team are great. We'd love to see your take on this challenge so stop by and leave us a note :)

We have a fun challenge at The Cuttlebug Spot this week... Serendipity technique embossed used somehow on your card. I had a lot of fun with this card. My son and I made a ABC fishing game using Cricut's An Ocean of Words over the weekend which is what prompted this card. He of course loves the pirate ship. He helped me by tearing the bits of paper for the backround while I made the cuts and doodled. I think we did pretty good! LOL I am really impressed with the other design team cards this week. So many different looks and ideas for this technique I definately will be trying out myself in the future. Stop by and show us your work~

This week marks the final week of our "B's" at The Cuttlebug Spot... this time B is for bows. Any kind of bow you'd like can be made or used. For me, this was a real challenge. I have never ranked high in my bow making, often taking several hundred tries to finally get one perfect in my eye! Maybe not hundreds, but a lot that's for sure! This card was created using my "Simple Bows" tool / template. I will admit I flunked using this at first but I think I have it down now. My card is a simple Thinking of You, but you must stop by The Cuttlebug Spot to see the other DT projects! I am blown away by their creativity. I know I am inspired and am sure you will as well.

I have been a long time fan of The Criss Cross Card. Our sketch this week at JCBC suits this design perfectly. Gry-Heidi added some fun elements that all of the design team members took on differently. They are fun, simple and addicting. If you haven't tried them, give it a go and let us see your work!

Card is made using 2 sheets of paper, cut at 5x10 each. Score in the center and fold.

Then cut the outer sides diagonally to make the 'criss cross' fold.

Time for a new sketch as Just Christmas and Birthday Cards! This week Kristin made our lovely sketch. I knew I wanted to play with the sketch and make a fun, but unusual card. I love what I"ve come up with. The card base is 5x5 square, with all elements on the front as designed, only also including the 'card' part for writing a note. Something different and fun! We've got some fun things in the works at The Cuttlebug Spot! Our next 3 projects will begin with the letter B... this week we are using all the Bling we can get into our projects! Add your glitter, rhinestones, fancy papers... anything that you have in your stash to add a little bling is great! Stop by and check out the other design team cards. Show us your creation too!

I have a friend that fills the room with light nearly every time she enters. She is always looking at the sunshine to forget the rain, always willing to hear your stories and leave you feeing more encouraged then when you arrived. She just had surgery and I've been thinking of a card to make her... well, this challenge proved to be the 'it' idea I needed. With the help of cricuts Tinkerbell and Friends I will fill her mailbox with a 'Ray of Sunshine' to brighten her spirits, as she does so often for me.

Standard A2 sized card, cut at angles on card front for fun, and scallped on back to bring it all together. I am really intested in stepping outside the box so to speak with card design right now. By simply cutting it a bit here, hiding things there... it is so fun to see what you can come up with.

The Cuttlebug Spot is still in the mood for love~ This week we created our projects using the word "LOVE" somewhere on it! I have wanted to try making a chocolate wrapper for some time now. Thanks to a challenge at this weekends SWARM, I got my oppertunity (thanks Lynnette :). She passed out the bars and told us to make a warp for our sweeties... at first I was the complainer because I didn't bring any 'valentine' paper... you know we always need the right paper. Well, it was at that moment when these frogs leaped from my paper bin, showing the hearts to me as well... the ideas started flowing. This sure was fun to make.

Sketch 17 was created by Janina for this weeks challenge. I love the simplicity of the sketch but more I love how everyone has used it! I am in love with Owls at the moment. This sketch provided the perfect oppertunity to use some in my stash for a happy hello to someone special.

Sketch 16 for last week was soooooo fun! I love cards with unexpected cuts and dimensions. I have seen some cards created in such a way in the past, where the front flap is only half the width of the full card size. Mada's sketch provided the perfect map to give this a go and the results are just too fun.

Happy Monday everyone~ it is refreshing to have a new week start for me. I have a bit of catching up to do for the last 2 crazy weeks!

Last week at The Cuttlebug Spot we made cards for our sweeties... My husband and I have never really made Valentines Day a special one for us, so this card was tough to create. I wanted to keep it sort of masculine with a bit of lovey colors in there too! I adore this quote tag and paper and thankfully the cuttlebug folders were disigned in my favor, LOL. Simone created a very fun sketch for you to try out this week at Just Christmas and Birthday Cards! There are so many elements to her sketch it was intimidating for me to begin and know what to choose for each spot! Those are often the ones you love the most when you're done. For me that is the case this week. I created a birthday card using all Basic Grey Sugared papers and some crochet lace passed down from my Grams. My card this week was cut using Cricut Wild Cards cartridge. I am loving this cartridge but only just learning how to use it. This card turned out cute and very simple... something good but also leaving a little to be desired for me. I embossed it with Cuttlebug's A2 Spots and Dots folder.

My weekend flew by and before I knew it my card was due. I was blessed by DCVW's Sweet stack for nearly everything in my card. The cake us hand cut from a sheet of paper and added to the card with foam adhesive. Fun, cute and quick!

It's the season of love at The Cuttlebug Spot~ stop by our blog and check out the other DT cards. They're great and there's a fun prize for your card submission. The next few weeks we'll be making cards with Valentines Day in mind. This week our theme is "Have A Heart". Make a card using a heart somewhere on the card, and cuttlebug of course! I had sooooo much fun with this card. I love this Magnolia stamp. She is just adorable with her little heart cookie. Just Christmas and Birthday Cards ~ Sketch 13

We're excited to start creating again at Just Christmas and Birthday Cards. This weeks sketch was created by Linda. I really enjoyed the layering in her sketch. I've decided as part of my creating this year I want to use more of what I have and not think I need something new every week! Easier said then done, right! Well, this challenge brought me to one stamped image, a new Magnolia which I adore. By clipping the holly from her hair and coving it with a little knot of red thread, I used the same stamp, with papers from the same line / stack, to creat both my Christmas and Birthday card. This is not only user friendly to my resolution, but it also made creating both cards a lot simpler for me. Not quicker but simpler :)
